What are Digital Leaders?

Digital Leaders are children from Year 5 and 6 with a passion for computing, technology and sharing knowledge. Digital Leaders take on, or develop, leadership roles and support the use of technology across the school.

They are also good role models who promote online safety.

How do you become a Digital Leader?

Children in Year  5 and 6  can apply for the position of the Digital Leader once a year.

Children complete the application for using the job specification and are then interviewed for the position.

These Digital Leaders remain in place throughout Year 5 and 6. During Year 6, Digital Leaders take a mentoring role to help train new Digital Leaders.

What do Digital leaders do?

Typically, things that may be performed by a Digital Leader could be:

  • Test and review new ICT resources, which could be websites, software or hardware.
  • Share their skills and expertise with other pupils, classes and teachers.
  • Set up ICT equipment in classrooms for teachers.
  • Attend and lead Computing Clubs.
  • Support teachers in using ICT in the classroom.
  • Blog or Tweet as the School Journalist or Photographer.
  • Staff Trainers.
  • Create how-to video help guides.
